A couple of guys have been working hard to re-design the course, using more of our property, more woods, more elevation, and more interesting shot demands.

The new course is very challenging and very fun!

We are once again re-designing the course!

A couple of UCONN students are completely redesigning the course, utilizing much more woods and property than we have used before. They are in the process of finalizing basket placements, setting tee boxes, and clearing out areas.

The new completed course should be done by the end of September. I think 5 holes are pretty set now. So come by and play when you get a chanc… and in a few weeks the whole course should be set!

Spring Weekend Disc Golf

This past weekend, as part of UCONN's SPRING WEEKEND, we set-up a "mini-3-hole" par-3 disc-golf course on campus near the anual "Oozeball Tournamet" and some of the other "Spring Carnival" events.

It was rainy and cold, but we still had about 80-90 people come out and "play a round" (and some, multiple rounds). It was a lot of fun and a great way to give people a taste of disc-golf.

We were also offering $1,000 cash to anyone who "aced" a whole — there were a few shots that got pretty close and one that actually hit the basket and popped out.

I think that we'll do a similiar thing in the Fall, but set-up 9 baskets — there is a ton of space available! Maybe we'll even get an insurance policy and offer $25,000 for an ace.

New DG Course in Tolland — Work Day this Sat (4/8)

Hi. I'm looking for volunteers to help clear brush at our new Disc Golf course in Tolland. The baskets have been purchased and are waiting to go in the ground. If you can break away Saturday April 8, we could use a hand at the Cross Farms recreation center Just off Rt.195 down by the new Big Y. Turn onto Rhodes rd. just east of big Y. Half a mile down take a left into the new facility. Go to the rear parking lot at 10:00am. If enough people show we can finish quickly and attempt the unofficial first round. Hope to see you there.

Spring 2006 Course Adjustments

We are in the process of making a few course adjustments. The biggest one right now is hole #1.

The new tee box for hole #1 is behind the Handicap Parking sign (about 15 yards in front of where it used to be). The new #1 hole is now on the right up on the hill/ledge, opposite of where it used to be and about 15 yards farther out (to keep same yardage).

Too many people were still hiting the building and cars parked in front from the old tee box, so we made this adjustment.

As Spring comes along, we are looking at a few other adjustments, mostly to keep play away from the parking lot.

We are open to suggestions and ideas, so let us know!

Course & Rule Changes

We have made one last round of course changes and rule changes for the season. A new tenant has moved into the fron to four building (which was previously vacant) which has forced us to make some changes for safety and friendliness.

Here are the highlights…but download the Scorecard & Rules to see the specifics:

1. Hole #9 has now moved so that we are no longer throwing across the driveway (and front foor) to our new neighbors.

2. Hole #18 has also moved. You now tee off from tee box #5 (by the shed behind the building) and throw around to the front of the building to hole #6. The MANDATORY is that you must throw around the building, not over.

Two major rules changes:

1. All pavement (including the basketball court) are now "OB" or out-of-bounds. Throwing OB incurrs a 1 stroke penalty and you throw from where the disc entered the OB area.

2. It is now prohibited to throw over the roof. This incurrs a 1 stroke penalty and shot must be played from where disc first entered the plain of the roof.

One last change…

The scorecards and pencils are now located by hole 6 near our front door.

For visitors not used to coming to our place, know that when the church is open we have a Hosmer Mountain Soda Machine inside, as well as water and bathrooms. We also have a pretty good collection of "loaner discs" for beginners who do not own discs.
